Weekly Post Challenge: “(Extra)ordinary”

Old Havana Cuba color street urban photography

The Streets of Old Havana

So, WordPress has challenged its bloggers to post pictures of places, people or things that are (Extra)ordinary. This is my answer to that challenge, just so we’re clear!

  1. It is not often that we get to see a color image from you. I wanted to write that it is so Cuba is the feeling in the picture. In the end I saw that you wrote that it is Havana. 🙂 a special city and country.

      • Why not do both? It’s a relatively short flight and you can weekend one portion of the trip. Best of both worlds. Also, were you able to visit Piñar del Mar when you were in Cuba?

        • I’m afraid that we won’t have time to do both. Jamaica is also where I have relatives who want to see me there (it might become an obligatory long visit).

We didn’t get to Piñar del Mar. We stayed mainly in the province of Matanzas. We didn’t get any further west than Havana but it’s on our mind to revisit Cuba and go to the western tip. We learned that the majority of exotic birds we expected to find in Varadero have been relocated to the western tip for their conservation:

          • Thanks very much for the link. It’s been a while since I’d been there. The beaches at Varadero are beautiful. I am sure you’ll enjoy your visit to Jamaica.

      • Correction I meant Piñar del Rio. It is tropical rainforest and it gets a ton of rainfall every year. The hotels there are some free room which is fantastic. The hotels there serve free rum which is fantastic.

        • Yeah, I got what you meant. Piñar del Mar is on the eastern coast of Spain.

My wife and I won’t touch the rum. We’re non-drinkers. In case you’re wondering we don’t smoke either, not even cigars! 🙂 I’m definitely interested in their wilderness though, and their more than 95 species of palm trees.

          • Thank you so much. I suggested it just in case. The exploration possibilities are tremendous. Wherever you decide to go, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. x
