Now There’s Something You Don’t See Everyday

That’s exactly what a woman in the vicinity said to me with a chuckle when she spotted me photographing this character.

  1. This is a great street photo, capturing the every day moments. The person on the bike probably does what they do most days and does their balancing act pretty well. It also looks like wet and cold weather. The day just goes on for some no matter what comes our way.

    • He was a street scavenger who wouldn’t raise his head from under that sugegasa to make eye contact with me or anyone else around. He stayed focused on biking up to all of the neighbourhood recycling bins he could in order to look for metal items that he could take to the scrap yard, and trade for tax-free cash.

Wearing that hat and trash bah as a makeshift rain-slicker shows that not even the weather was going to deter him from his mission. To him, this is earning a living.
